We own 5 parrots. A Congo African Grey, a
Timneh African Grey, a Grey Cockatiel, a Blue and Gold and our newest member
MAYA a Green Wing Macaw (see more details about them in
the "our flock" section of this website. We searched
everywhere for an affordable perch/stand/activity centre.
Everywhere we looked, including the United States, the
prices were in the range of $300 +++ and they were small!
Plus, NONE of the stands out in the marketplace have bark on
them (parrots WANT the bark!). Or they aren't wood at all,
they are PVC or resin. We found this discouraging so we
ended up building our own with surprising results. Our birds
absolutely LOVE their stands! We have attached toys and
water dishes. They love the natural branches, the many
levels for them to climb and to do their
"loop-d-loops". Our Congo even uses one of the
branches as a slide! Too funny!
So we thought, maybe there would be people
out in the GTA who own small birds like Budgies, all the way
up to the larger parrots, like Macaws, who might be
interested in one of these stands.
Because the branches are all unique, each
stand is different. Ours are 5 1/2 ft high (by 3ft long and
2ft deep at the base) and 6 ft high (by 3ft long and 2ft
deep at the base). We also build portable table stands.
We have also built stands as large as 4ft
long by 3ft deep (at the base) and as high as 7ft for
customers who have larger parrots.
Anyone who owns a parrot (especially a
Grey) knows that parrots get bored very easily and this is a
great solution to someone who wants to provide a SAFE and
AFFORDABLE entertainment solution for their feathered
friend.
